It is often something to do with an electrical interferance of some type or other. i had the same problem, start menu flickering all over the place AND not selecting anything. i EVENTUALLY solved it by unplugging all the usb’s and re plugging them in one at a time. i dont know if one socket was interferring with the other but i put one in the back of my pc and removed the other one and plugged it into the front port. this solved the problem and so far it has not come back. hope this helps.

I have been having the problem of my cursor jumping around on the screen of my laptop and also clicking on something that I did not want. I took all of the above steps and more. I worked with various tech services and no one could figure it out. I finally thought through what could be the problem and relaized that there was something wrong with the touch screen(not the touch pad or the mouse). I disabled the touch screen three weeks ago and I have had zero problems since then.
