This (Method 3 – Command prompt, EMPTIES.BAT) worked for me … I was trying to clean up a backup disk, folders count reduced from 4,970 to 4,202. Had no idea so many had accumulated over the years. Thanks for the tip.

From what I understand, this will provide a list of folders sorted in some way.
It will not provide a list of folders that have zero contents, instead it will be a list of all folders.
If you find a way to delete them, you machine will have to have an operating system reinstalled (unless protected by limited access to system folders)
This is bad news, as most of what you value will be gone.

Always back up to an external drive before doing anything like this.

I set everything as shown and Search in Explorer finds nothing in a tree of folders I know has a huge number of empty folders. I can make a new folder right under the top folder I’m searching, and it can’t find it. Nothing new there with Windows! Many times across the years and versions, I’ve had Windows built in search unable to find certain files, even when I have the file visible right there.
